An Assisted Triple Play!

So you know: just now, in the eight inning of tonight's game, the Giants completed a round-the-horn triple play, third to second to first, on the first pitch thrown by their reliever Yabu to the Padres hitter Kouzmanoff.

Yabu is credited with the most efficient pitch in the history of baseball, eh?

FURTHER investigation yeilds this tid bit of inforemarkale ing its own right:

In his at-bat following the triple play, Kouzmanoff laid off a first-pitch fastball from Brian Wilson in the 11th inning but grounded the second pitch to Durham. The second baseman threw to Vizquel, who threw to Bowker to complete a double play. Thus, Kouzmanoff was responsible for five outs on three pitches.

"inforemarkale ing" will never be approved by MLB or its clubs, I think.

Five outs on three pitches is astonishing, though.
